    Mississippi College offers Microsoft introduction course

    Adults who want to learn basic computer skills can get help at a Mississippi College class in February.

    The four-part course will cover 2013 Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. This course is for individuals who have some knowledge of a computer, including the use of a mouse and key-board.

    The MC Office of Continuing Education is offering the class on Monday and Wednesday evenings on February 20, 22, and 27, and March 1 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on the Clinton campus. The cost of the course will be $75.

    Teddy “We Care” Bears is a nonprofit organization, collecting teddy bears or stuffed animals to comfort, support, and help children in society deal with traumatic situations or events, with the love of a teddy bear. Together We Care has become a big supporter of this wonderful cause. Our mission is to provide comfort to children by providing stuffed animals to hold through difficult times and tough situations.

    We need your help to collect 5000 teddy bears to distribute to local hospitals, fire stations, AMR, police stations, community centers, etc. We will collect new or gently-used bears and/or stuffed animals from now through the end of the year. Teddy bears and/or stuffed animals can be dropped off at one of the following locations:

    Schools and businesses throughout Mississippi will be honored for their partnerships during the 2017 Governor’s Awards Luncheon.

    The Mississippi Association of Partners in Education is hosting the event from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 in the Wellington Ballroom at the Hilton Hotel in Jackson. The luncheon is part of the Mississippi Education Partnership Conference presented by MAPE, Mississippi Association for Middle Level Education, and Program of Research and Evaluation for Public Schools, Inc.

    “School and business partnerships are always mutually beneficial,” said Phil Hardwick, MAPE board president. “It supports schools, it helps businesses and ultimately, it benefits entire communities.”

    Winners will be recognized at the luncheon, but there will be an earlier conference session from 9-10:15 a.m. that day in Salon A where award recipients may be interviewed.
