Friday Nights at Milepost 89 to feature Backwater Band on July 19

Friday Nights at Milepost 89 is every third Friday of the month at 7 p.m., inside the Clinton Visitor Center. Admission to each performance is at least “89” cents.

The Friday, July 19, performance will feature the group Backwater Band from Vicksburg. The group plays traditional country, bluegrass and gospel music.

The group includes Martin Pace and Tabitha Newton on vocals, David Sterling on drums, Bob Bernard on guitar and banjo, Mark McCann on guitar, and Mario Sanchez on guitar and bass. The group has been playing together for nine years performing at churches and community centers in the Vicksburg area.

They will perform songs like “Mama Tried,” “Blue Moon of Kentucky,” “Jambalaya,” “Rum is the Reason,” “Home Sweet Home,” and many others. Organizers say it will be a night of entertainment Clintonians will thoroughly enjoy. Doors open at 6:15 for a good seat.

The Weekend Music Scene at the Clinton Visitor Center off ers entertainment and fun year around with many genres of music. The toe-tapping jam sessions on Saturdays and Sundays is a favorite community pastime. Weekend music is held on every Saturday morning, except the third Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until noon and every Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. The Friday Nights at Milepost 89 performance season is from March through October.

The Visitor Center is located at 1300 Pinehaven Road. To get there, take the Clinton exit at Milepost 89 on the Natchez Trace Parkway and turn left onto Pinehaven Road; or, from I-20, take Exit 36 and turn north onto Springridge Road, which becomes Pinehaven Road.
