Northside Baptist Church Lenten Series

Northside Baptist Church, Clinton, is sponsoring a series of “Lenten Lunches,” beginning March 4, with area speakers discussing inner disciplines for keeping Lent and preparing for Easter. The community is invited.
These will take place for five Wednesdays beginning at noon in the church fellowship hall. Each will include lunch, music, and a short talk.
Kicking off the series, March 4, will be Susan Meadors, associate pastor at Northside. She will offer an overview of the inner disciplines from Richard J. Foster’s “Celebration of Discipline.” Janet Taylor, church organist, will lead the music.

The next week, March 11, the topic is fasting, led by Greg Gearhart, engineer and partner at Williford, Gearhart, and Knight. Toney Keeler, music director at Northside, will lead the music.
Paige Swaim-Presley, director of the Center for Ministry at Millsaps College, will discuss meditation on March 18. Judy Gearhart will lead the music.
The March 25 session will feature Beth Foose, rector of Grace Episcopal Church, Canton, speaking on study. Bennett Randman, cellist, will make the musical offering.
The final session will be April 1 with Michael O’Brien, priest at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Canton, speaking on prayer. Music will be led by Dottie Serio, Northside’s pianist.
Each session begins at noon with lunch at $5 each. Music is at 12:30 and then the speaker will share thoughts and reflections on his or her particular discipline.
