Ninety Employers Visit Mississippi College for 2020 Career Day

Expect hundreds of students to visit Mississippi College’s 2020 Career Day to network with a record 90 employers.

That’s what will happen on February 25 in Anderson Hall as scores of recruiters size up job-seeking MC students.

MC Office of Career Services associate director Taylor Ormon is working with a team of volunteers to make the event a success once again.

Last year, there were 87 employers staffing tables at Career Day Anderson Hall. This year, Ormon and her team are making room for a few more recruiters.

Newcomers bringing staff to the event include Business Communications, Inc. of Flowood, LeBonheur Children’s Hospital of Memphis, and U.S. Army Healthcare. Also coming: Sheldon Labs of Crystal Springs, the Mississippi Baptist Foundation, and the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services.

What’s new about the 2020 Career Day?

“We will have a new Career Prep area for students to prepare their personal pitches, check their dress and research employers,” Ormon says.

The list of employers visiting the Clinton campus also includes the VA Medical Center, the University of Mississippi Medical Center and Forrest General Hospital of Hattiesburg. School districts in Clinton, Hattiesburg, Scott County, Starkville, Madison and Pearl will be among those sending representatives. The FBI, Atmos, the U.S. Navy, WLBT-TV 3 in Jackson, MEA, and C Spire will send staff here as well. The list goes on.

The event runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. that Tuesday.

Ormon believes there will be lots of company officials recruiting electrical engineering students. The same can be said for business, nursing, education, communication and social work majors, among others.

The MC Office of Career Services sponsors the event that generates rave reviews from employers statewide and across the South.

Clinton school officials keep coming back for a reason: to attract top-notch future educators. About 65 percent of the teachers and staff in the Clinton district are Mississippi College graduates.
