DAR to host Bell Ringing Ceremony for Constitution Week on September 17, 2023

The Walter Leake Chapter of the MS Daughters of the American Revolution is hosting a “Bell Ringing Ceremony” at the Olde Towne Depot Bell Tower in Clinton on September 17, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.  This event is held in celebration of the 236th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution.  DAR chapters throughout the United States celebrate Constitution Week (September 17 – 23) annually by ringing bells simultaneously at 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time. DAR chapters encourage churches, local governments, and citizens in their communities to celebrate the signing of the U.S. Constitution by participating in the traditional bell ringing ceremonies, learning about the American Revolution and our founding fathers, and flying American flags during the week.  DAR chapters place posters and other materials in schools and public venues, conduct programs, and ask local governments to issue proclamations in recognition of Constitution Week.

The public is invited to gather at the Olde Towne Depot at 2:00 p.m.  There will be a brief welcoming ceremony and program and the proclamation recognizing Constitution Week in the City of Clinton will be displayed.  The bell ringing will take place at 3:00 p.m.  Anyone who is not able to attend the bell ringing ceremony is asked to ring a bell wherever they are at 3:00 p.m.
