    Clinton Visitor Center will commemorate National Native American Heritage month

    The Clinton Visitor Center will commemorate National Native American Heritage month with an event on Saturday, November 5, from 10:00 am-3:00 pm.
    See the Mystic Wind Choctaw Social Dancers and the Mystic Wind Inter-Tribal Dancers  performing social dances and sharing their customs and traditions.  The Southern Pine Drum group will demonstrate a kind of drumming frequently found at powwows, a popular native American event that focuses on Indian culture in general.
    Learn more about the animals on the Natchez Trace Parkway and enjoy and interactive animal skulls and skins presentation by the Natchez Trace Parkway Rangers. Enjoy Banza music by Jason Smith as he plays his gourd banjo and Dancing accompaniment will be Gourdon, the dancing gourd!

    Veterans Day program planned for Clinton Visitor Center

    2:00 pm-4:00 pm

    A Veterans Day program will be held on Sunday, November 6, at 2 p.m. on the grounds of the Clinton Visitor Center to honor and remember Mississippi’s Veterans.

    Marine veterans Bob and Richard Catlett were involved in creating a display entitled “Mississippi’s Faces of the Fallen” that will be a part of this year’s veteran’s program. The display includes a photograph and information of 105 service members of the military who died during the War on Terrorism from 1991 to 2013.

    This year’s patriotic program is under the direction of Eagle Scout candidate Noah Martinolich, as he has chosen to present the Veterans Day program for his Eagle Scout Service Project.  For more information, call 601-924-2221.
