It’s the official start to hunting season in Mississippi. The Mississippi Wildlife Extravaganza is the signal for thousands of sportsmen and women from across Mississippi to head outdoors for another hunting season. The annual tradeshow and fundraiser for the conservation programs of the Mississippi Wildlife Federation will feature over 200 vendors from all over North America showing the latest in outdoor products and hunting and fishing gear. This year’s show will also feature legendary outdoor celebrity Jim Shockey on the CSpire stage telling stories of his hunting adventures from all over the world and then meeting new friends in the Primos Outdoors booth on Saturday and Sunday.
The show will kick off on Friday with Kids’ Day sponsored by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Mississippi where kids 12 and under get in free. As always, there will be plenty of activities for the kids including the high-flying retrievers, catfish hand-grabbin’, pellet and archery shooting and so much more. There will also be some great giveaways for the kids throughout the day so be sure to bring the whole family. This year’s show will once again feature the “Ride and Drive” test track sponsored by the Central Mississippi Chevy dealers as well as the state’s largest Big Buck contest sponsored by Pennington Seed and The Westervelt Company. Bring your trophy deer to be scored and be entered for a chance to win some incredible prizes including guns, scopes, Primos ground blind and even a $500 Academy gift card. It’s a sure way to get fired up for the upcoming season!
The show kicks off at the Trademart building in Jackson on Friday with kids 12 and under getting in free of charge during show hours of 2-8 p.m. Doors open Saturday at 9 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m. with Sunday’s show starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. For more information about this year’s Wildlife Extravaganza visit the Mississippi Wildlife Federation webpage at www.mswildlife.org.
