Come one, come all! Join us in this new, rousing, holly-jolly-fun race through the heart of Clinton’s decorated downtown!
Yule Run Clinton 2018, the new annual fundraiser for the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, is a combined 5K and 10K walk/run race through Clinton’s historic Olde Towne and the Clinton Boulevard route of the annual Christmas Parade for our city.
The race, sure to get you and your loved ones festively dashing through Clinton, will conclude by 10:00 a.m. to allow your whole family to relax and view the annual Christmas Parade which immediately follows the event.
All participants will receive a race t-shirt, finisher medal, and a participant packet (swag bag). Special awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each category (5K walk, 5K Run, 10K Run). All participant items and awards must be collected on site at the event or at the Clinton Chamber of Commerce by December 7, 2018. No t-shirts, medals, or special prizes will be mailed.
The Christmas season marks the eighth year the The Clinton Courier will sponsor the Spirit of Christmas Tour for the community. Designed to encourage businesses and homeowners to decorate for the holidays, the Tour was initially created to replace a former awards program the City used to sponsor that recognized homes throughout town that were particularly festive or well-lit with holiday displays.
In prior years, the Tour has included close to one hundred homes, businesses and subdivisions. Citizens can nominate themselves and their own house or business; a neighbor whose seasonal efforts stand out; or simply a place that they think other people would enjoy seeing during the holiday time.
Clinton resident Phoebe Fuller and her family say they enjoy the Tour every year.
“Our family loves riding around town and looking at the houses on the Christmas Spirit Tour. We enjoy seeing the different themes and colors, and appreciate the effort that goes into creating the displays. We spend a lot of time decorating our yard, and we’re so very excited to have made the tour list last year!”
Previous years of the Tour have been a great success, said Courier publisher Clay Mansell.
“We really love to encourage everyone across the city to participate in events, and we really love the holidays. We hope that our Spirit Tour gets more folks to string up lights and put out decorations for everyone to enjoy, and we can’t wait to hear about how much fun everyone has riding around to see all of the lights with their families.”
The McCoy family says, “Decorating our home and yard is our way of wishing family, friends, neighbors and hour hometown a very ‘Merry Christmas.’”
Nominations for the tour can be made to office@TheClintonCourier.net or by calling 601-990-9511. All decorations should be in place and lit by the time judging begins on December 7.
Judging will be completed between December 7-11. The December 18 edition of The Clinton Courier will include the addresses of homes that make the tour, and homes and businesses on the tour will be acknowledged with a yard sign.
