Public Service Appreciation Luncheon
|
Living thousands of miles from home, Mississippi College’s international students seek to share their culture.
This Fall’s Celebration of Culture is designed to do just that. The October 18 program is free and open to the public. MC’s new International Student Association will be part of the festivities
It represents an opportunity for international students to share their language, art, literature, music, dance, customs, food and clothing, says Phala Echols of the MC Office of Global Education. Echols serves as its international program coordinator.
The Office of Global Education will sponsor the annual event at Anderson Hall West from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. that Thursday.
Mississippi College is home to 198 international students from 38 countries this Fall. The number includes 49 students from China, 24 from Saudi Arabia and 20 from India.
Countries represented at the Celebration of Culture for the first time will be Rwanda in East Africa, Qatar and Bangladesh. Students from other lands taking part in the program are residents of Colombia, Indonesia, Togo and Taiwan, to name a few.
The event provides an opportunity for all guests to make new friends, enjoy delicious food from nations around the globe and have fun.
Led by director Mei-Chi Piletz, the Office of Global Education serves as the “home away from home’’ for international students on the Clinton campus. For more information, visit the website www.mc.edu/international

Most talked about Christmas Tree!
Ladies, did you know we have the MOST TALKED about CHRISTMAS TREE at the Quisenberry Library? Starting in December, the Library will be displaying Christmas Trees from local businesses. We decorate our tree with ornaments made by you! We encourage the many people that come to visit the library to take an ornament home from a business they plan on visiting or supporting as a reminder. (You can add a coupon or samples to your ornament). The library staff has told me the last two years that people love to come by our tree and see all the business represented by our group! This year, Britter Kinsey and Wendy Harris will make it SUPER EASY for you! They have gathered supplies and all you need to do is bring your business cards! Come for a fun evening and make 4 ornaments to hang on our members can hang them on our WISE Network Christmas Tree representing your business! Don’t miss this great opportunity to market your business for the holidays! We are preparing for it now so that you won’t be stressed during the holidays! Cost for supplies will only be $5.00
