“Happily Ever Opera: A Rendering of Fairy Tales” is being presented November 1-4, 2018. The production will include a portion of Hansel and Gretel and the lesser-known story of The Goose Girl. This family friendly production will be light-hearted and humorous, leaving you with the feeling that happy endings can come true, even in opera. With characters that include the loveable, albeit misguided Hansel and Gretel, the witch who has way too much sugar available to her, a princess who is off to find her true love with her faithful horse (who actually sings), and the woman who tries to thwart the union, Happily Ever Opera will be sure to entertain and put a smile on your face.

Celebrating Friends of Raymond’s 20 Year Anniversary
Bill Ellison, Temperance Babcock, and Jeff Perkins will perform on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, located at 213 W. Main St. in Raymond, MS. The concert, sponsored by the Friends of Raymond, Inc., in celebration of the organization’s 20year history, will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is free to the public.
This trio combines acoustic guitar, fiddle, and bass for a traditional bluegrass sound, mixed with some gospel and folk music. Their vocal harmonies and instrumental arrangements cover the musical spectrum from Bill Monroe to the Everly Brothers to Old Crow Medicine Show. They have performed for audiences all over Mississippi at concerts and through radio shows such as Thacker Mountain Radio and the USM Roots Reunion. They have performed several times at St. Mark’s in Raymond, and the beauty of their performances in this intimate and historic church is just magical!
Friends of Raymond, Inc. is an all volunteer organization founded in 1998 to preserve historic sites around the beautiful town of Raymond, Mississippi. Our group has purchased, preserved, and provided historical interpretation for the original site of the Battle of Raymond which was an important part of General Ulysses S. Grant’s 1862 Vicksburg campaign during the Civil War. We work closely with the City of Raymond to coordinate historic preservation efforts for this beautiful and historic area. All work depends completely on memberships, donations, and sponsors. Please come join us for this fine concert – admission is free!
