  • Clinton’s Neighborhood Night Out is Going Virtual
    All day
    Oct-06-2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, City leaders are offering a virtual Neighborhood Night Out option this year. While the block parties and picnics will be mostly missing this year, the City of Clinton wants to keep the spirit of Neighborhood Night Out alive by providing an online option.

On Tuesday, October 6, the City will provide a WebEx (similar to Zoom) meeting link to neighborhood leaders. City officials, police, and fire personnel will join you and your neighbors on the night of NNO. If you are interested in participating with your neighbors please fill out the registration form at www.ClintonMS.org/NNO or call Lt. Mike Kelly at 601-924-5252.

Neighborhoods that desire to host a traditional meeting with social distancing and mask requirements in place may register their event as well.

Due to the virtual nature of this year’s event, please ensure that your email address is correct to allow access to the meeting.

Residents and HOA leaders may submit questions for City officials and first responders in advance of the virtual NNO on the Ask the Mayor portion of the City website. Please make sure to note that your question is for the NNO live stream event.

Recordings of the virtual NNO will be posted on the City Facebook page and YouTube channel following the event.

The virtual NNO meeting will be streamed live that evening at www. Facebook.com/ClintonMiss

The deadline to register is September 29, 2020.

To register your neighborhood for the virtual Neighborhood Night Out, please click the NNO event tab on this page. WEBex Meeting access information will be posted on the NNO page on Monday, October 5.

Clinton’s Neighborhood Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen our communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners.

The event is scheduled for the first Tuesday in October each year.

Throughout the evening NNO parties will be attended by city administration, police and fire to share updates and tips on building a safer and stronger neighborhood.

Please call Lt. Mike Kelly at 601-924-5252 to inquire if your event can be added to this year’s list. Thank you for your desire to make Clinton safer.

  • POSTPONED Household hazardous waste disposal and fall cleanup set for Oct. 31st
    7:00 am-6:00 pm
    Oct-10-2020-Oct-17-2020

UPDATED TO STATE: CITY OF CLINTON HAS POSTPONED THE HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL EVENT UNTIL OCTOBER 31, AND THE CITYWIDE CLEANUP FOR OCTOBER 31 – NOVEMBER 7

The City of Clinton will offer hazardous waste disposal on Saturday, October 10, at the Public Works Facility at 525 Springridge Road. Disposal will be allowed from 8 a.m. until noon. Residents are encouraged to dispose of common household chemical waste by bringing it to the facility for proper disposal. Items such as used motor oil, paint, paint thinners, propane tanks, aerosols, antifreeze and insecticides can all be disposed of.

Public Works staff will be on site to accept different types of hazardous materials.

Other common items of household waste include car batteries, tires and fluorescent bulbs, as well as electronics such as computers, printers, monitors and televisions. Any chemical or article that is designated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency to be “hazardous” will be collected on this day.
The annual fall citywide cleanup will be held from October 10 through October 17 (except Sunday). Roll-off dumpsters will be placed at the old Northside Elementary School location at 1111 Old Vicksburg Road. Residents will be able to dispose of yard waste, bulky items and other household debris free of charge. The dumpster site will be open from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Due to the expense of the program, the Public Works Department will limit the service to residents of Clinton only. Residents utilizing the service will be asked to show proof of residency. Accepted forms of identification include a City of Clinton water/garbage bill or a driver’s license or state-issued ID card with a Clinton address.

Should there be a delay for entry into the parking lot for dropoff, residents are asked to line up by utilizing Longwood Place in the Briars neighborhood and turning west onto Old Vicksburg road.

The fall cleanup days are a service to Clintonians who may have items too large to dispose of on their regularly scheduled garbage collection days.

For more information, contact the Public Works Department at 601-924-2239, or visit www.ClintonMS.org/Cleanup.
