The production premieres on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. on MPB Television and MPB Think Radio

The “Mississippi College Festival of Lights 2020” premieres on Mississippi Public Broadcasting Television and MPB Think Radio Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. The 2020 production is a collection of the best performances from the past four concerts.

Encore presentations of the 2020 production will air Dec. 20 at 4 p.m., Dec. 24 at 10 p.m. and Dec. 25 at 1 p.m. Ed Foose and Zeke Bandy are the MPB producers for the production.

Festival of Lights began at Mississippi College in December 1986. The concert brings together Mississippi College faculty members and the Mississippi College Singers to present music and scripture readings in the English tradition of Lessons and Carols. Every year, the concert ends with the choir leaving the historic Provine Chapel on the campus by candlelight singing “Of the Father’s Love Begotten.”

Professor Mark Nabholz is the conductor for the MC Singers, who have entertained audiences at New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. The talented group has also traveled to performance halls in Europe and South Africa.

Olde Vineyard
315 Concord Dr, Clinton, MS 39056, USA

The Clinton Courier has learned that Santa will once again make a special stop in town on Sunday, December 20 from 6:30 until 8:30 pm., his twentieth time to visit his friends in Olde Vineyard.

Santa’s very good friend Darryl Sims has been in contact with the Jolly Ole Man himself, and Sims promises that Santa will hold court in the front yard of Bob and Joyce White’s home, at 315 Concord Drive in the Olde Vineyard subdivision.

When Santa first began appearing in Olde Vineyard, he sat in a small sleigh in the front yard of Sims’ house to visit with children and listen to their gift requests. But when Sims moved to another neighborhood in Clinton, he asked his former neighbors the Whites to host Santa in their front yard.

Children line up on the sidewalk in front of the White home and wait for their time to visit with Santa.

Christmas music will encourage the spirit of festivity, and visitors can look at the lights and decorations throughout the neighborhood. All children are encouraged to prepare their Christmas wish lists so that Santa can look them over. Parents are invited to bring their cameras for photo opportunities. The event is completely free and open to the public.
