Tori Roberts Named GSC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Mississippi College senior Tori Roberts has been named the Gulf South Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced on Wednesday (Feb. 26).
Roberts (Jackson, Miss.) has gone a perfect 4-0 in singles play this season, including picking up wins over the #4 players for NAIA #3 Xavier and NCAA #14 Angelo State. She has also gone 3-1 in doubles play with partner Aneta Golawska, who was named GSC Player of the Week earlier this season.
Last week, Roberts picked up a pair of straight-set victories at the Ouachita Baptist Invitational. She opened things with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Maria Delgadillo of #14 Angelo State and then defeated Erica Jaggernauth of Henderson State.
In doubles play, she and Golawska took down Valentina Gonzalez and Ena Ovcina of Angelo State by a score of 7-5 at the #2 position.
Roberts and the Lady Choctaws are scheduled for three home matches the rest of this week, hosting Alcorn State (Wednesday) and New Orleans (Thursday) at the MC Tennis Complex. They will then open Gulf South Conference play on Saturday against West Georgia.
