MC making plans for 2023 Homecoming weekendPlans are coming together for Mississippi College’s 2023 Homecoming weekend. With a theme of “Let the Good Times Soar,” the October 20-21 events are designed with current students, alumni and the community in mind.

The celebration weekend starts on Friday, October 20, with a golf tournament, multiple receptions and reunions.

Many departments on campus will honor distinguished alumni throughout the weekend, and the School of Nursing will celebrate its 50-year anniversary on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Gore Arts Complex.

The 50-Year Club will celebrate the golden anniversary of the Class of 1973 and add them to the fold from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday in the Grand Hall of Alumni Hall.

Friday’s plethora of activities will culminate with the annual MC Homecoming Follies tradition at 7 p.m. in Swor Auditorium, when new members of MC’s clubs and tribes will display their creativity in humorous skits about the university and its traditions.

Saturday’s activities kick off with the early-morning “Hap” Hudson Homecoming 5K Run through Olde Towne Clinton at 8 a.m. Shortly after, homecoming celebrants can tour the newly-finished Gore Arts Complex and the Leland Speed Library and Archives, and can enjoy social tribe and club receptions and awards presentations, as well as a concert by the MC Singers at 1:30 p.m. in Provine Chapel.

Tailgating gears up at 2 p.m., and the annual MC Homecoming Parade will fill College Street with Choctaw spirit at 3:30 p.m. The Choctaws will face Chowan University on the gridiron at 6 p.m. at Robinson-Hale Stadium.
