Arrow swimmers compete at state championship meet

     Last month, the Clinton Arrows swim team competed in the MHSAA State Championship Meet at the Tupelo Aquatic Center.

     Hayes Montgomery placed fifth in 200-yard Individual Medley and sixth in 100-yard Freestyle.  Ellie Rushing placed sixth overall in the 50-yard Freestyle and seventh in the 100-yard Freestyle.

     The girls’ 200-yard Freestyle Relay team of Kate Gilliam, Ashlee Sumrall, Clara McCombs and Ellie Rushing placed eighth overall. The girls’ 400-yard Freestyle Relay team of Abbie Rushing, Clara McCombs, Ashlee Sumrall and Kate Gilliam placed eighth overall.  The boys’ 400-yard Freestyle Relay team of Hayes Montgomery, Isaac Baird, Reed Watts and Joshua Ross placed eighth overall.

     The girls placed tenth overall, and the boys placed eleventh overall out of twenty-three Class 3 teams.

     Coach Rushing says that this has been a great season for the swim team, and she is looking forward to next year and hosting more home meets at the Clinton YMCA.
