Sumner Hill celebrates annual Commit to Graduate

Special to The Clinton Courier

Students at Sumner Hill Junior High School recently participated in the school’s annual Commit to Graduate ceremony.

Just under four hundred students heard from Mississippi College’s Dean of the School of Education and former Eastside Elementary teacher Dr. Cindy Melton, as well as from Clinton High School principal Dr. Brian Fortenberry and Clinton Public School District’s superintendent, Dr. Andy Schoggin.

Sumner Hill principal Matt Fulton said the annual ceremony is a great reminder about the importance of starting well to achieve their end goal of graduating.

“These students are working hard and will be well prepared when they leave Sumner Hill to finish the race at Clinton High School and go on to achieve great things in their post-secondary careers,” Fulton said.

Each student signed the Class of 2028 Commit to Graduate banner and was given a certificate commemorating the event.
