Free financial literacy seminar planned
Special to The Clinton Courier
Clintonians who want to learn how to repair or build their credit are invited to a financial literacy seminar on May 31. Offered for free by BankPlus, the CreditPlus program is a class, loan and account designed to strengthen financial security through education and a bank-built program to help individuals improve their credit.
In addition to the 9 a.m. until noon class on May 31, CreditPlus offers a low-interest, small-dollar loan alternative to expensive payday lenders, check cashing services and other alternative financial service providers. Additionally, the financial literacy component provides important information to make wiser financial decisions.
The seminar will include topics such as budgeting, money management strategies, the basics of credit, how lenders use credit scores and how to improve a credit score. Following class completion, class participants can apply to establish CreditPlus checking and savings accounts, and may also use available loan proceeds to eliminate any high interest outstanding debt.
The free seminar will be held at Northside Baptist Church, which is located at 1475 East Northside Drive. Pre-registration is required and is available at www.BankPlus.net/CreditPlus or by calling 601-664-7587.
