Depot Days of Summer on the horizon
The Clinton Courier
Olde Towne Depot is gearing up for its third annual Depot Days of Summer, July’s month-long celebration of all things trains.
Through June 23, train-related art can be submitted by local artists of all ages who would like to participate in the All Aboard Art Gallery, which will be up all month long at the Depot. The only requirement for art entries is that the piece somehow relate to trains. Public voting will be open throughout the month, and People’s Choice Awards will be given.
Also all month, the Model Train Exhibit will be on display, including both the Depot’s large train display and other smaller displays.
July 1 brings the monthly story time, Reading Railroad, at 3:30 p.m., followed by rides on Turner the Train from 4 until 5 p.m.
New this year will be Locomotion Pictures, a train-themed series featuring two movies and two documentaries. Murder on the Orient Express will be shown on Friday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m.; the documentary Riding the Rails can be viewed on Saturday, July 12, at 2:30 p.m.; the documentary Rocky Mountain Express will be shown on Saturday, July 19, at 2:30 p.m.; and the movie Train to Busan will be offered on Friday, July 25, at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday Morning Cartoons on July 12 will offer a relaxed morning of Thomas the Train cartoons, toy trains out for play, and a light breakfast. The fun begins at 10 a.m.
Choo Choo Craft Day, set for Saturday, July 19, offers families the opportunity to stop by at 10 a.m. to create their own train-themed craft.
Depot D&D, a train-themed Dungeons and Dragons game, will be offered on Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m.
