A reliable quarterback is like gold dust. As such, players in this particular role are often the biggest stars on the team. Talked about in top restaurants and always seen on the back of team jerseys, the NFL has some hugely talented quarterbacks fans should pay close attention to when the new season kicks off in September.
While fans have their favorites, the finest quarterbacks in the competition are widely known. However, some players climb up the rankings every season and outdo their quarterback rivals. As such, with only five quarterbacks to focus on here, some household names have been left off the list. While some exclusions might upset fans, these players could easily produce some game-winning moments in the coming months and cement themselves near the top of the rankings come the end of the season.
After all, given the array of world-class operators in the NFL, it’s almost impossible to predict which quarterbacks will have the most memorable moments in the campaign ahead. So, with that in mind, we focus on five NFL quarterbacks worth watching this season.
Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Despite struggling to make an impact in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles last time out, Patrick Mahomes is still widely regarded as the finest quarterback in the NFL. His grip on the top spot might be loosening slightly, but he’s still a player that fans love to watch in action, especially when it comes to NFL props betting. If the Chiefs were to have a successful campaign, Patrick Mahomes would have had something to do with it. Mahomes hopes to build on his 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions from last season.
Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
For many NFL fans, Josh Allen is just behind Patrick Mahomes. The gap isn’t huge, with his strong arm and rushing ability making him a formidable opponent. Allen’s growth has been a joy to watch, with this top-shelf quarterback having a fine 2024 culminating in a special MVP award. Last season, Allen recorded 4,300 total yards, 40 touchdowns, six interceptions, and 13 regular-season wins. A reliable performer, Josh Allen could evolve further in the season ahead.
Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson is a fantastic player in his own right. However, even his biggest haters will wonder how he missed out on his third MVP award last season. Jackson will surely be right up there again this time around, though. The Ravens’ hero had 40 passing touchdowns and four or fewer interceptions in 2024 – the first of its kind in a season. With the new campaign on the horizon, this top-notch space runner could do even more.
Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
Next up is Joe Burrow, the star player of the Cincinnati Bengals. Burrow’s stock has always been pretty high, having led the Bengals to two AFC Championship Games and two AFC North titles. Fast forward to today, and Burrow heads into the new season from a prolific campaign where he led the NFL with 4,918 yards and 43 touchdowns. Fully deserving of his subsequent Comeback Player of the Year award, Burrow could achieve a lot more in the coming months.
Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders
Following a rookie season to remember, Jayden Daniels has quickly established himself as one of the finest quarterbacks in the NFL right now. Daniels posted the fourth-highest QBR in the NFL (70.6), alongside many other notable achievements. Jayden Daniels, a young player with massive potential, could announce himself further in the season ahead.
