Visitor Center to host local student showcase gallery

Special to The Clinton Courier

Special to The Clinton Courier On April 2, the Clinton Visitor Center will house a local student showcase gallery organized by senior high school student Alexis Burt. Burt says her goal with the gallery is to “end her high school experience on a bang, showcasing her abilities through something she’s never attempted to organize before, as well as showing off the talents of her peers.” The gallery will feature work from high school through college age students, ranging in location from Central Hinds Academy all the way to the University of Southern Mississippi. Artwork will be available for viewing from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on April 2. In addition, throughout the event, donations will be accepted to fund the purchase of new art supplies for the Central Hinds Academy art department. Burt says that donations and attendance are both greatly appreciated, and that her hope through both is to give back to the community “by offering a beautiful selection of local art for public viewing, encouraging her peers to continue creating, and providing her own school with valuable and necessary resources that contributed to her own artistic success.” The Clinton Visitor Center is located at 1300 Pinehaven Drive.
