Institute Offers All-Male Yoga Experience Focused on Mental Wellness
The Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health will offer an all-male yoga experience designed to promote mental wellness, stress reduction and self-care among Black men across Mississippi. Balanced Man: A Men’s Mental Health Yoga Experience will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 29, at Split Rebel Yoga Studio, 1048 Greymont St. in Jackson.
The free experience will provide men with a supportive environment to focus on their mental, emotional and physical well-being through yoga, mindfulness and movement. Participants will engage in guided exercises that blend yoga and Pilates techniques to improve flexibility, reduce stress and encourage overall wellness.
Men often face unique challenges that can affect mental health and well-being. Through the Men’s Health Program, the Institute seeks to create opportunities for men to prioritize their health, develop healthy coping strategies and connect with resources that support long-term wellness.
“Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health,” said Warren Jones, MPH, with the Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health. “This experience encourages men to slow down, focus on their well-being and recognize that self-care is an important part of living a healthy life.”
Balanced Man is sponsored by the Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health in collaboration with the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Behavioral Health Institute, Split Rebel Yoga Studio, the Black Men’s Health Equity Council, JXN United, Beta Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and Mu Epsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
