Clinton readers in next-to-last place in reading challenge

Clinton, Mississippi, readers are in next-to-last place in a friendly multi-state challenge that has six other cities with the same name competing to log the most reading hours this summer. The contest runs through August 31, and Clinton readers ages 18 and up are encouraged to join the effort to help move “the ‘Sip” to the top.

Those who want to participate are asked to read throughout the remaining weeks of summer and log their reading in the online reading log system Beanstack.

ALL reading counts, including print books, newspapers, magazines, e-books and graphic novels. Audiobooks also count!

Every entry helps the library represent Clinton, Mississippi, against other Clinton libraries across the country.

Other Clintons that are participating include those in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Iowa and Indiana.

The challenge is split into “rounds,” and there are three more left this summer: Round 4 ends July 31, Round 5 ends August 15, and the final round, as well as the competition, ends August 31. All time for each round must be entered within the round period in order to count.

Statistics are posted at the end of each round, so each town can see how they are faring in relation to other Clinton readers across the country.

A large grand prize will be awarded to the Clinton, Mississippi, participant who reads the most during the challenge, with many local businesses donating gift cards and other items for the award.

To join the challenge, visit JHLibrary.BeanStack.com, where readers can create an account or log in. Once logged in, the option to join the “Clinton Challenge – Mississippi” will be available.
