Old Time Radio program offered at MC

Auditions have been set for “A.M. in the P.M.: An Evening of Old Time Radio.” The live performances will take place Thursday, March 2 and Friday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in the Aven Fine Arts Building on the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton. This is a fundraiser for the theatre program of the Communication Department. Each program will consist of three Old Time Radio shows, episodes from “The Adventures of Sam Spade,” “The Burns and Allen Show,” and a radio version of the movie “Casablanca.” The Sam Spade cast will consist of Clinton residents. The Burns and Allen cast will be MC faculty. And the Casablanca cast will be MC students.

The Sam Spade cast needs: announcer, Sam Spade, Effie Perrine, Big Flora, Papadopoulos, Bluepoint Vance, Red O’Leary, Ann Newhall, and Cop.

The Burns and Allen cast needs: Gracie Allen, George Burns, Bill Goodwin the Announcer, Regan the cop, Sam Spade, Jenkins, Cabbie (one line), and Claude.

The Casablanca cast needs: Announcer, Rick Blaine, Ilsa, Laszlo, Carl, Renault, Sam, Lady Esther, and Strasser.

Auditions for Casablanca and Burns and Allen will take place Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 18 and 19, 3 to 5 p.m., in the Aven Little Theatre.

Clintonians may contact Tim Nicholas at tnichola@mc.edu to express interest in participating. In addition to the cast, the program will include live sound effects. Two to three sound effects persons will be needed to participate in all three shows both nights.
