|For the fifth consecutive year, BankPlus is again being recognized as one of the Best Banks to Work For in 2017. Banks ranked by American Banker showcase unique employee benefits, strong cultures and meaningful community involvement.
The program, which was initiated in 2013 to identify, recognize and honor the best banks to work for in the nation, is a project of American Banker and Best Companies Group. To be considered for participation, banks had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements: have at least 50 employees working in the U.S., and be a commercial bank, thrift, mutual association, mutual savings bank, savings and loan association or a savings bank.
To determine the top-ranked banks for 2017, American Banker evaluated BankPlus with a two-step process. The first step consisted of evaluating the bank’s workplace policies, practices and demographics. The second part consisted of surveying the entire BankPlus workforce in order to gauge strength as a company in categories such as leadership, planning, corporate culture, communication, work environment, compensation, benefits and more.
“We have a strong TEAM here at BankPlus, and we’re building upon that every day,” said Alison Tyler, Senior Vice President & Director of Human Resources at BankPlus. “The culture and benefits we offer our employees are second-to-none, and I think that is reflected in this recognition. I realize that there are many places to work and over 750 people choose to work here, and that says a lot. Even though BankPlus has been recognized as a Best Bank to Work For every year since American Banker started the program in 2013, we always strive to be an even better place to work by focusing on improving the culture, benefits and career opportunities.”
This year, BankPlus employees graded the company extremely high in the following areas: excellent benefits and community service, a teambuilding culture and care shown for others.
Standout benefits include a paid day off for annual physicals, a paid day off for employment anniversaries and premium health insurance discounts for employees who complete four wellness-related activities.
BankPlus, in partnership with the University of Mississippi Medical Center, also utilizes cutting-edge technology such as the new Corporate Telehealth program, allowing each employee to consult with a live healthcare provider in a virtual environment for urgent care needs such as poison ivy, allergies, common colds, sinus infections or other routine ailments, without paying for a doctor’s office visit. The time and money each employee saves helps foster an environment of trust.
