On Saturday, October 7, 2017, Friends of Raymond will host a Park Day event at the Raymond Military Park beginning at 9:00 a.m. Volunteers are needed for various projects including clean-up of signs and grounds and painting of cannon. A light lunch will be provided to all volunteers. A local historian will also be available to describe the park’s significance. Friends of Raymond, founded in 1998, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, management, education and interpretation of Raymond’s history and historical sites. Through the support of concerned citizens, FOR owns and maintains the Raymond Military Park which includes much of the ground where the Battle of Raymond was fought in 1863. The park’s walking trail is used by many in the local community and all maintenance is done by volunteers. You may also wish to support FOR by becoming a member.
