Taste the Town set for the brick streets on April 27

By Janet S. Lee

Main Street Clinton, the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Clinton are joining together to bring a new event to Olde Towne Clinton.  Billed as “Taste the Town,” the event promises to tantalize the taste buds of anybody who likes to eat.

Local restaurants will line the brick streets on Friday night, April 27, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. dishing up two favorites from each vendor’s individual menu for crowds to sample.  The choices will cover everything from appetizers to desserts, with tea, lemonade and water included in the $15 ticket price.  Craft beer will be available for purchase, as well.

Live music from the acoustic group The Nostalgics will accompany diners as they saunter from table to table to satisfy their culinary tastes.

MC law professor David Parker, the current Main Street Clinton president who also plays in the group, the event is a great way to bring the community together.

“Where else can you eat, listen to live music, and visit with friends and neighbors on historic brick streets?  Taste the Town is a new event, but one that signals that Clinton is a place where people want to be for a unique sense of community.”

Tara Lytal, Director of Main Street Clinton says, “We are excited about rolling out this new event.  This is something we’ve wanted to do for quite some time, and we think the timing is right to showcase our great local restaurants.”

With all types of cuisine available, from Southern comfort food to Tex-Mex favorites and Italian, she says everyone will be able to satisfy their food cravings.  And don’t forget dessert: Froghead’s favorite bread pudding and Meme’s delicious baked goods.

Teresa Smith, the namesake and owner of Meme’s Brick Street Bakery, is “excited to see Clinton restaurants to come together for this event.  It’s a chance to reach more of our community in a different way.  We will have two of our customers’ very favorite treats for sampling.  I think it’s going to be a fun night on the brick streets with a lot of great food!”

Tickets may be purchased from the Main Street office in the new Train Depot, from the Chamber of Commerce office, or online by visiting www.mainstreetclintonms.com/events/all/taste-town.  The number of tickets will be limited to 200, so advance ticket purchases are recommended.
