Come celebrate America at a free patriotic concert July 1

  Please mark your calendars for 6:30 PM Sunday, July 1, 2018, and come enjoy a free Patriotic Concert – A Celebration of American Music at Christ United Methodist Church, 6000 Old Canton Road in Jackson.

  The concert features the Christ United Methodist Church Orchestra and the church’s men’s quartet, Testament. Members of the men’s quartet include Guy Hovis, known for his vocal performances and also as a well-known star from the Lawrence Welk Show, Roy Butts, Bob Flowers and CUMC Minister of Music and Conductor Michael Kemp.

  Music includes favorites such as “Armed Forces Salute,” a medley of service songs to honor and celebrate all military branches; “God Bless the USA,” featuring Testament men’s quartet; a celebration of American music including “A Tribute to Paul Williams,” a medley of the composer’s best-known movie theme songs; popular songs from the 1840’s such as Steven Foster’s “Oh, Susanna”; and thrilling patriotic marches.

  After the concert, everyone is invited to an ice cream social in the Fellowship Hall.

  Invite your family and friends, veterans and neighbors to come enjoy this special concert that celebrates America and salutes our service men and women.

  Christ United Methodist Church has lots of free, well-lighted parking, full handicap-accessibility and plenty of comfortable seating.

  Note: Clintonian Kathy Dougan, a writer for The Clinton Courier, plays flute and piccolo in CUMC orchestra, and she guarantees you will LOVE the concert!
