Natchez Trace closure update

Natchez Trace Parkway officials updated local media on the part of the Trace that is closed near Clinton.

The delay is blamed on the record breaking rain in the metro area.    The road has been closed since October 31, 2019.

Phase one of the plan has been completed.   A culvert had to be replace before the road work is actually started.  The culvert part of the project was completed on January 5, 2020.

The Parkway needs at least two weeks without rain for the ground to dry enough to move the equipment in where it needs to be.

“Visitor and staff safety remains our top priority. We apologize for the inconvenience and request the public’s patience and understanding as we wait out the weather,” said Acting Superintendent Laura Perdices.
