In honor of Arbor Day, the Hinds County Soil and Water Conservation District will host its 45th Annual Tree Sale. Set for Saturday, February 1, from 8 a.m. until noon or until the trees run out, the sale will be held at 322 New Market Drive in Jackson. 

The varieties of trees available will include Lob-lolly pines, at $1 per bundle of fifty, with a limit of two bundles. Sawtooth Oak, Tulip Poplar, Persimmon, Redbud, Bald Cypress, Crabapple and Dogwood seedlings will be $1 each. Three-foot cuttings of Crape Myrtles in white, red, pink and purple will be $5 each. Pecan, Hazelnut, Black Walnut and Chestnut seedlings will be $5 each. Red Flowering Quince, Spirea, Gold Forsythia and Rose of Sharon in red, violet, white and pink will be $2.50 each. 

Apple, Plum, Peach, Pear and Cherry trees will be available for $12 each. Muscadines will be $4 each. Blackberries, thorn-free, will be $5, and blueberries will be $5.50 each. 

All varieties are bare-root seedlings. Clintonians are encouraged to support their local Soil and Water Conservation and plant a tree.
