Update #2. The road was only closed for 10 minutes while other work was done on the road. It is back open and will close again on the 25th as originally published.
Update, We have gotten calls from readers the road was closed early. It is closed now.
Clinton, Miss. (March 23, 2020) City of Clinton officials will be closing Clinton-Tinnin Road at Cedar Crest Drive to through traffic to replace a culvert crossing beneath the road beginning Wednesday, March 25 at 7 A.M.
Crews with Blurton and Banks Construction will be performing the culvert replacement. Contractors estimate that the project will last from 7 A.M. on Wednesday, March 25 through Friday, March 27 at 5 P.M.
Residents living north of Cedar Crest Drive are asked to utilize Williamson Road to Pinehaven Drive as a detour. Residents accessing areas north of Cedar Crest Drive may utilize Pinehaven Drive to Williamson Road.
These emergency repairs are necessitated to repair the culvert which is undermining the road.
According to Public Works Director Dexter Shelby, “this pipe drains water from the east side of Clinton-Tinnin Road underneath the roadbed to the west side of the road. Replacement of this pipe has been deemed a critical repair.”
Residents are encouraged to follow detours that are posted along the routes.
City officials are working with the contractor to provide a safe working environment for their crews in conjunction with social distancing guidelines set forth by Health Officials.
