The City of Clinton will hold a ribbon cutting and grand opening of the new Arrowhead Archery at Traceway Park on September 9, at 10 a.m. The new archery range at 200 Soccer Row will feature a 125’ x 15’ covered shooting shed, 3D range and equipment room.

Arrowowhead Archery will be located on the southeast corner of the soccer side of Traceway Park near the offices of the City’s Parks and Recreation Department.

Arrowhead Archery is a cooperative effort between the City of Clinton, Mississippi College, the Clinton Public School District and Clinton Christian Academy to build two archery ranges – an outdoor archery range and a 3D archery range.

City officials hope that the range will be a place for novices and experts alike to enjoy the rapidly-growing sport. The number of Americans participating in archery stood at 21.6 million just a few years ago. Bow hunters can use the targets to sharpen their aim for bow season, while outdoor enthusiasts could also utilize the space as a unique date night.

Parks and Recreation officials are working with the Director of Archery at the Mississippi High School Activities Association to provide opportunities for youth in the metro Jackson area. In just over three years, archery in Mississippi schools has grown to over 8,000 students participating in archery from the fifth grade to the twelfth grade.

Range passes for the new range will be $5 per day for an individual and $15 per day for a family. Annual passes will be available for $50 a year for an individual, $75 a year for a family.

All shooters must have an Arrowhead Archery Membership or a day pass to utilize the facility. Passes may be purchased at the Clinton Parks and Recreation office once the facility opens. In addition, online payment portals are being created for the purchase of memberships and day passes.

Clinton’s Parks and Recreation department staff is working on rules and usage fees that will be used to expand the facility’s offerings and maintain adequate targets. Visit www.ClintonMS.org/arrowheadarchery for more information.
