Barracudas were back in action for 2021 summer
Special to The Clinton Courier
The Clinton Family YMCA Swim Team, the Barracudas, is a competitive team that offers fun in the water in a positive environment. The team serves children ages 5-18. Swim team participants receive guidance on improving skills while swimming competitively at local levels through the Jackson Swim Association.

The team competes in city meets and every year has had swimmers take home high scores and ribbons from different competitions. Over the past six years, the Y has had swimmers with impressive swimming stats.
The swim team runs for the month of June and is offered to any child that is a member of the YMCA.
In 2020, due to COVID-19, the team continued to practice but had only in-house competitions. This year, the team was back to competing against other teams.
The team is run by Kylie Dowd, the head coach and longtime team member. Dowd has introduced over two hundred swimmers to the love of water and has coached many to advance their aquatics skills. Coach Kylie focuses on proper techniques to improve each child’s endurance and skills.
The main goal for the Y is for children to make long lasting friendships and have fun. For more information about the programs offered at the Clinton YMCA, call 601-924-5812.
