Not everyone can transport specialty gases. Having certifications and licenses are required before moving these chemicals, as they can become hazardous under certain conditions. Specialty gases could either become flammable or toxic while being transported.

Reserve a Location for Your Cylinders
There should always be a special place reserved specifically for your specialty gas cylinders. These gases are unique and have chemical compounds that could become hazardous. So, it is best that they are always compartmentalized when not in use. Cylinders should always be stored away from any electrical plugs or outlets and anything combustible.
Do a Thorough Inspection
Before the trip, while in route, and upon your destination, it is always good to do safety checks. Inspection is something that can never be overdone, as you are working with very sensitive and combustible materials. Making sure that all your cylinders are upright, secured in place at least ¾ of the way up the tanks, and all labeled with hazmat labeling should be only the bare minimum of checks that you make to ensure proper delivery. Keep an Eye on Your Regulators
It might be a good idea to wait until you reach your destination before applying your regulators. Make sure to inspect them to ensure that they are all functioning properly before leaving your facility if you need to fix or replace them altogether. You will need one regulator per cylinder.
Things to look for are odors, sounds, and leaks. If you discover that there are leaks of any kind, try readjusting your regulator to ensure that there is a proper fit and that it is functioning up to code.
The transport of specialty gas cylinders is something to be taken seriously. Having the proper credentials should always be the requirement before handling such hazardous equipment. Inspection and reinspection are something that should also be practiced while in transport to add quality control as a measure for every delivery.
