Clinton Swim Team competes in first squad meet

Late last month, the Clinton Arrows Swim Team competed in their first squad meet against Germantown and Newton County High School teams. The Clinton Arrow boys placed first at the meet at the Cypress Lake swimming pool in Madison. Swimmers that placed in the top three of their events included:

Women 200 Yard Medley Relay: Second Place – Tejasvi Uppu, Rosemary Williamson, Leah Johnson, and Celia Pennington; and Third Place – Ashlee Sumrall, Abbie Rushing, Katherine McCombs, and Sarah Rhodes;

Men 200 Yard Medley Relay – Andy Guan, Colin Guan, Carson Dowd, and Porter Cronin;

Women 200 Yard Freestyle, Second Place – Leah Johnson;

Men 200 Yard Freestyle, First Place – Porter Cronin and Third Place – Toby Gilbert;

Women 200 Yard IM, Third Place – Tejasvi Uppu;

Men 200 Yard IM, Second Place – Caleb Baird; Women Fifty Yard Freestyle, Third Place – Sarah Rhodes;

Men Fifty Yard Freestyle, First Place – Colin Guan and Third Place – Andy Guan;

Women 100 Yard Butterfly, Second Place – Leah Johnson;

Men 100 Yard Butterfly, First Place – Carson Dowd and Second Place – Hayes Montgomery;

Women 100 Yard Freestyle, Third Place – Celia Pennington;

Men 100 Yard Freestyle, First Place – Porter Cronin, Second Place – Cody Swann and Third Place – Caleb Swann;

Women 200 Yard Freestyle Relay , Second Place – Leah Johnson, Celia Pennington, Tejasvi Uppu, and Sarah Rhodes;

Men 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, First Place – Porter Cronin, Cody Swann, Carson Dowd, and Colin Guan; and Third Place – Joshua Ross, Hayes Montgomery, Sam Johnson, and Caleb Baird;

Women 100 Backstroke, Second Place – Tejasvi Uppu;

Men 100 Backstroke, First Place – Carson Dowd, Second Place – Andy Guan and Third Place – Caleb Swann;

Women 100 Yard Breaststroke, Third Place – Abbie Rushing;

Men 100 Yard Breaststroke, Second Place – Colin Guan and Third Place – Caleb Baird;

Women 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, Third Place – Rosemary Williamson, Abbie Rushing, Katherine McCombs, and Ashlee Sumrall;

Men 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, First Place – Caleb Swann, Caleb Baird, Cody Swann, and Carson Dowd, and Second Place – Toby Gilbert, Gavin Crosby, Joshua Ross, and Hayes Montgomery.

Coach Marcy Rushing and swimmers say they hope Clinton fans will come out to support the team at their next squad meet, set for Saturday morning, September 11, at the Vicksburg pool around 9 a.m.
