The best players step up in big moments, and former Clinton Arrow soccer player Carson Barefoot did just that for Hinds Community College last night. In the Eagles’ conference quarterfinal against the seventh-ranked team in the country, Jones College, the freshman forward scored the tying goal in the 65th minute of the match. The Eagles eventually went on to win in penalty kicks, thereby advancing to the semifinals.
Barefoot’s goal was his third of the season, giving him the fifth-highest total on the team. The 2021 Clinton High graduate also found the net in wins against Holmes and East Central. Notably, each of his goals have come in the last four matches.
Barefoot and the Eagles advanced to the semifinal round for the third time in as many seasons. They will face off against third-ranked Pearl River on Saturday in Ridgeland. Kickoff from Freedom Ridge Park will be at 6:30 p.m.
