CPSD Assistant Superintendent Anthony Goins announces retirement

Assistant Superintendent Anthony GoinsClinton Assistant Superintendent Anthony Goins announced his plans for retirement at the end of the 2021-2022 school year to take a position as Assistant Executive Director for the Mississippi Association of School Superintendents.
Mr. Goins has worked in the Clinton Public School District as an administrator for 21 years and will retire with 27 total years in education. His time in Clinton is made up of 14 years at Clinton Junior High School, two years as Principal of Clinton High School and the previous five years serving as Assistant Superintendent.
“I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in a place like the Clinton Public School District,” Goins said. “The way this community supports public education is second to none. I want to thank school board members, administrators, teachers, students and everyone who has played a role in making this such a special place to work over the years.
“Clinton Public Schools has given my family a place to call home for the last 22 years,” he added. “My wife, Ladreana Goins, works at Northside Elementary and my daughter, Morgan, is a 2018 graduate of Clinton High School. They have always been supportive of me and I truly appreciate it.
“Anthony has been an integral part of the leadership team and has always represented the Clinton Public School District in a first-class way,” Clinton Superintendent Dr. Andy Schoggin said.
“With all of his different leadership responsibilities, Anthony always has a positive demeanor and is looking for ways to make our district better,” he added. “As much as we will miss his daily presence and body of work, I am excited for him and his new chapter.”
“Mr. Goins has played a vital role in the success of the Clinton Public School District,” Clinton Public School District Board of Trustees President Derek Holmes said. “Through his leadership, he has positively impacted many students, faculty members and families. While he will be greatly missed, we are grateful for the time we have shared with him, and we wish him all the best.”
Dr. Schoggin added, “There is one thing for certain: Anthony Goins embodies the motto of Excellence is the only option in all interactions in representing the Clinton Public School District. We celebrate him and congratulate him on this special milestone in his professional career.”
“I will truly miss this place and will continue to cherish relationships when that time comes,” Goins said, “but for now finishing this school year strong is of the utmost importance.”
Goins will serve in his role as assistant superintendent through June 30, 2022.
