Chamber offers community holiday opportunities

By Guest Columnist George Ewing

Clinton ChamberThe Clinton Chamber of Commerce has numerous upcoming holiday events, including Small Business Saturday, Yule Run Clinton, the Twelve Days of Christmas, and everyone’s family favorite: the Clinton Chamber Christmas Parade. Considering all the challenges this year has presented, the Chamber is pleased to offer our comforting holiday activities to finish this exhausting year with Christmas cheer and shopping locally.

The Clinton Chamber lends its support to the annual Small Business Saturday® and Shop Small® Movement to drive commerce to our local businesses. Shop Small is a nationwide effort to support and celebrate small businesses every day and everywhere.

This year, Small Business Saturday is on November 27. Mark your calendar, and support our Clinton businesses! Several of our local businesses will be running specials for this shop local event. Check the Chamber’s website, social media, and e-blasts for updates on local Small Business Saturday® specials run by our members and updates on how your business can participate in Small Business Saturday® this year.

December brings our community together like no other month with two of our most cherished events: Yule Run Clinton and the Clinton Chamber Christmas Parade. These back-to-back joyful events are set for Saturday, December 4, to start our winter season right.

Yule Run Clinton, now in its fourth year, is a combined 5K walk/run and 8K run through Clinton’s historic Olde Towne and the Clinton Boulevard route of the parade. Presented by Continental, this year’s themed “Feel the Burn, Not the Frostbite!” race starts at 7:30 a.m., with registration and packet pickup starting at 6:30 a.m. Packet pick-up will also be available on December 3 at the Clinton Chamber office from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Additionally, the Clinton Chamber is offering a virtual race option again this year for those participants who would love to join the fun from a distance. Regardless of the way you race, you’ll still get all the holiday feels this year from Yule Run Clinton! To participate in this healthy, holiday race or find out more information, visit the event website at runsignup.com/Race/MS/Clinton/YuleRunClinton2021.

Immediately following the race, the 48th Annual Clinton Chamber Christmas Parade will begin Saturday, December 4, at 10 a.m. This year’s exciting theme is “Snow Much Fun!” All participants are encouraged to share their own treasured Clinton Christmas memories or snow-filled memories. All businesses, churches, organizations, pageant titleholders, bands, etc. are invited to participate in the parade. Register online at business.clintonchamber.org/events or drop by the Clinton Chamber office at 100 East Leake Street to get your form. Registrations received before Wednesday, November 24, will be $25 (three entities per application are allowed.) After that date, entry fees are $35. Join us in welcoming the holidays to Clinton at this great festive event, and plan to arrive early to secure your preferred viewing spot. While you are out and about on December 4, remember to stop by our local businesses around Clinton for your holiday shopping.

Rounding out the Chamber’s holiday events are the Twelve Days of Christmas Giveaways. Every year, twelve local businesses offer wonderful free prizes through special promotional posts on the Clinton Chamber’s social media. From gift baskets to free memberships, these special giveaways are a happy surprise for the winners and showcase great local present ideas for everyone else. Check the Chamber social media posts starting on December 6 for your chance to win and the Chamber website for this year’s participating businesses.

With all these exciting upcoming events, the Clinton Chamber hopes you’ll join us in welcoming the holidays to Clinton and finishing 2021 on a shop local note. For more information on any of these events, contact the Chamber at 601-924-5912 or by email at info@clintonchamber.org.
