The creation of the early signing day in 2017 gave football recruits a preliminary opportunity to sign with the college of their choice. Five Mississippi junior college football players used this opportunity to solidify their commitment to Mississippi College and Head Coach John Bland next season. Tra Anderson, RJ Wilson, Jordan Boatman, Houston Smith, and Jordan Milton signed with the Choctaws last week.

Tra Anderson

Anderson played for Coahoma Community College this season. The 5-9 defensive back from Hattiesburg had 11 tackles, 1.0 tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and a fumble recovery this season for the Tigers.

RJ Wilson

Wilson is a 5-9 running back who played his first two years at Itawamba Community College. The Independence, Mississippi native tallied 72 rushes for 321 yards and three touchdowns this past season. He also added 14 catches for 113 yards and another touchdown. He was a 2020 MACCC All-Conference selection as a returner, and he added another 246 return yards this past season.

Jordan Boatman

Boatman was an offensive lineman for the nationally-ranked East Mississippi Community College team this season. The Starkville native was a First Team MACCC All-Conference selection and will bring some valuable experience to the Choctaws in the trenches. The Lions rushed for 179.9 yards per game (15th in country) and scored 24 rushing touchdowns (9th in country) this past season.

Houston Smith

Smith, a punter and kickoff specialist, plied his trade locally at Hinds Community College. The Flowood native punted 57 times for 2093 yards (36.7 average) this past season. He landed 21 punts inside the 20-yard line, which was tied for the third-highest in the country.

Jordan Milton

Milton, a Batesville native, was ranked first in tackles for loss and second in tackles for Holmes Community College this past season. The 6-1 linebacker tallied an impressive 40.0 total tackles, 12.0 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
