The Clinton Christian Academy (CCA) varsity and junior varsity (JV) cheerleaders had a tremendously successful performance at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) camp at the University of Southern Mississippi. The varsity cheerleaders won overall First Place Cheer for the week. They also came in second for their sideline routine and won the Spirit Stick. During the week of competition, they received the highest ribbons in their evaluations each day, including gold, which is the highest ribbon a team can be awarded on any day of competition.
Five CCA varsity squad members won All American Cheerleader: Haley Cannada, Eliza Naquin, Selena White, Kinsey Prevost and Abbey Abraham. Selena White from varsity was chosen by UCA staff as the recipient of the “Pin It Forward” award for a cheerleader who individually stood out at the camp.
Abbey Abraham is the school mascot, “Walter,” and brought home the Spirit Award on the last day of camp.
The JV squad won Blue Superior Ribbons and, on the last day of camp, won overall in Game Day, overall in Cheer and third in Sideline Routine and Spirit Stick. Izzie McGehee was also chosen by UCA staff as the “Pin it Forward” recipient for a cheerleader who individually stood out at the JV portion of the camp. Sawyer Turnage won the “Jump Off” competition for the Best Individual Jump of all JV squads at camp.
Six CCA JV made All-American Cheerleader: Pollyanna Pope, Rivers McMullan, Shelby Brinkmann, Madeline Beckmann, Sawyer Turnage and Lanie Gibson. CCA cheer squads are coached by Page Pope and Leslie Cannada.
