Registration open for Living Young Mardi Gras Bash trip

The Clinton Therapeutic Recreation Department’s Living Young group will be visiting Louisiana for the Mardi Gras holiday on Saturday, February 11. The 2023 trip to Shreveport-Bossier City will be the city’s seventeenth annual Red River Mardi Gras Bash.

Attendees will be treated to an exclusive party during the Krewe of Centaur parade, which is one of the largest parades in the state. The unique parade day experience party will feature a seafood buffet, a climate-controlled tent party, live music, creole/Cajun food and more.

Once the Krewe of Centaur Parade begins, the Mardi Gras Bash area is showered in beads, trinkets and toys thrown by krewe members aboard dozens of huge, brightly colored floats.

Before the parade, the group will have time to shop at Tubbs Cajun Gifts and Hardware Store, a one-of-a-kind hardware store that has shelves stocked with Mardi Gras gifts, Cajun seasonings, sauces, cookbooks and cast iron cookware.Shoppers can enjoy complimentary king cake and smoked BBQ chicken.

Each attendee will receive a T-shirt, access to the tent party, lunch buffet and VIP parade seating. The group will depart Clinton at 8:30 a.m. from 200 Soccer Row.

The trip is $149 per person and includes transportation to and from Shreveport. Payments and shirt size can be mailed to 111 Clinton Boulevard, Clinton, MS 39056. Checks should be payable to Trek Travel.

On Fat Tuesday, February 21, the fun times will continue at the Wood Center, when award-winning saxophonist Tiger Rogers will guide attendees through a Mardi Gras celebration with his smooth tunes and foot-tapping accompaniments. There will be food, fun, second-line dancing and more. Those who wish to join in on the masquerade fun can make or buy their own mask for the Mardi Gras party, and dancing shoes are encouraged.
