Clinton Precinct to Have New Voting Location
A last-minute change will send some Clinton voters to a different location for Tuesday’s primaries. The Pinehaven precinct (PN) has been voting at Sumner Hill Junior High after moving from its previous location at Federation Towers. But for Tuesday’s election, the voting will take place at Fire Station #4 at 1973 Pinehaven Road.
Mayor Phil Fisher says Hinds County Supervisor David Archie contacted him Monday asking for help because school officials had notified the county (in October of last year) that they didn’t want the added traffic, safety concerns and disruptions at Sumner Hill any more—but that the Hinds County Election Commission had not determined a new location. Fisher says he offered the only two locations in the precinct that the City controls—Fire Station #3 on West Northside Drive and Station #4. The Pinehaven Road station was chosen. Voting precincts for elections other than municipal elections are the responsibility of the County Election Commission.
Signs will be in place Tuesday at Sumner Hill directing voters to the correct location.
