MC readies for increased number of on-campus residents for fall

New Mississippi College students will arrive on campus later this month; and, while a single move-in day is still planned for all students, new and returning, university officials recently decided to add a second move-in period to accommodate the large incoming class of students for fall 2023.

New freshmen and transfer students will arrive on the mornings of Tuesday, August 15, and Wednesday, August 16, and will install themselves as Choctaws in the school’s residence halls for the first time. Returning students will move in the afternoon of August 16.

Officials have not yet released enrollment numbers for the fall semester, but this summer, a record six new student orientation sessions were held. University officials say the new Leland Speed Scholarship, announced earlier this year, which provides full tuition for all admitted high school or undergraduate transfer students who are residents of Mississippi, has significantly increased the number of on-campus students at the university for the fall.

The annual Back to the Bricks business block party welcome event for MC students hosted by the Clinton Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Clinton has been scheduled for August 17 from 5 until 7 p.m. The event is designed to show Clinton’s newest college residents everything the city has to offer. Businesses, organizations and local churches who are interested in participating may contact the Chamber office at 601-924-5912.
