City to host Fall Clean-up and Hazardous Waste Disposal

The Clinton Courier

Clinton’s annual fall citywide clean-up will be held October 14 through October 21. From 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., the old Northside Elementary School location at 1111 Old Vicksburg Road will have dumpsters available for residents to get rid of household debris. The site will be closed on Sunday, October 15.

Residents can dispose of yard waste, bulky items and other household debris free of charge.

During the clean-up period, City employees will be present at the site to help residents, as needed.

Residents utilizing the service are asked to line up for drop off on Longwood Place in the Briars neighborhood and turn west onto Old Vicksburg Road.

Residents will not be able to dispose of e-waste, such as old computers, printers or keyboards, or refrigerators, freezers and A/C units at the Old Vicksburg Road site, nor will hazardous materials, such as paint and pesticides, be accepted there.

Instead, residents are asked to dispose of those items during the city’s Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day on Saturday, October 14. That day, from 8 a.m. until noon, Clinton’s Public Works facility at 525 Springridge Road will be open to accept disposal of e-waste and hazardous waste products.

Common household chemical waste products such as used motor oil, paint, paint thinners, propane tanks, batteries, aerosols, antifreeze and insecticides will be accepted. Other common items of household waste, including car batteries, tires, fluorescent bulbs and electronics, such as computers, printers and televisions, will also be accepted. Public Works staff will be on-site for the event.
