Lantern Celebration Planned As Part Of "Save The Lake" Efforts

The first Lantern Celebration of its kind in Clinton is being planned by the Lakeview Heights Fundraiser Committee to Save the Lake. The committee is committed to raise funds to make required improvement to the neighborhood lake dam. They identified this fundraiser as a win win because it will be a beautiful evening gathering around the lake as well as raising needed funds. Committee members and residents are selling floating lanterns which will be launched on the lake on October 21 at dusk, approximately 6:30.

Those interested can purchase a lanter to honor someone, in memory of someone, to celebrate a birthday or an anniversary, or even to remember a most loved pet. Messages will be written on the lanterns, which are made of parchment paper, and launched into the lake by committee members while guests view the lake come to life with candlelight.

The community will have an opportunity to purchase a lantern for $20.00 through a neighborhood resident or at the October 14th Olde Towne Market where the neighborhood will have a booth. The committee encourages people to bring their lawn chairs or a blanket and enjoy a lovely fall evening and the lantern show on the banks of Lakeview Lake.  For more information please follow Lakeview Heights Community Club on Facebook or contact a LHCC Fundraiser Committee member.  Orders can be sent to Save the Lake at P. O. Box 844, Clinton, MS 39060.  Members include: Joan Blanton, Chair, Tara Lytal, Suzi Nyberg, Roz Strong, Crystal Reed, Anna Nutt, Kay Boyd, Jody Fortenberry, and Lawren Todd.
