Clinton native makes performance debut with PelSquad

Madison Johnson, a Clinton native, has been named a professional dancer with the New Orleans PelSquad, the official dance team of the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans.

 

In May 2023, she earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in dance education from the University of Southern Mississippi. During her time in college, Johnson held various roles, including serving as a residential assistant and holding a position on the executive board of the student dance organization. She was also crowned the 2023 USM Miss Black and Old Gold. In addition, Johnson was a member of the Mighty Mu Nu Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, where she served as the 2022-23 step team and performances coordinator.

 

In the summer of 2023, Johnson served as the dance school administrative assistant for the USA International Ballet Competition of Jackson.

 

Johnson is 2019 graduate of Clinton High School, where she served on the student council, cheer team, and the Attaché Show Choir. She is the daughter of Sherwin and Vera Johnson and the sister of William Johnson.
