Living Young Mini Conference registration is now open

Registration is now open for the Living Young Mini Conference, set to take place on March 13 at the Wood Center. The conference will offer five presentations tailored to individuals who are fifty years of age or older. Presentations covering topics such as self-defense, preventing identity theft, foods that heal, and more will be given by experienced professionals. Attendees can also enjoy a complimentary lunch.

Starting at 10 a.m., a self-defense session tailored specifically for senior adults will be presented by the Clinton Police Department. The specialized workshop will focus on practical techniques and strategies to enhance personal safety and confidence, as well as situational awareness tactics and tips for staying safe in everyday scenarios.

At 11 a.m., the Memory Impairment and Neurodegenerative Dementia (MIND) Center, a leader in research for Alzheimer’s disease, will discuss topics such as resources for caregivers, upcoming research study opportunities, warning signs of Alzheimer’s and dementia, and more.

 

Noon will bring a complimentary lunch, followed by a 1 p.m. session addressing pre-planning and family preparation. Led by Wright and Ferguson staff, the session will include discussions about end-of-life pre-planning as well as the benefits and considerations involved in making advance arrangements.

At 2 p.m., Senior Medicare Patrol will share tips on how to safeguard against deceptive practices targeting Medicare beneficiaries. Discussion will include the topics of Medicare fraud, common scams and proactive measures to prevent exploitation.

The conference will close out with a 3 p.m. session to highlight the power of nutrition, “Foods that Kill and Foods that Heal.” Dr. Joseph White will delve into the world of impactful dietary choices, explain how to decipher between harmful dietary habits and nourishing choices that promote overall wellness, and share the hidden potential of certain foods to either exacerbate or alleviate common health concerns.
