Ronald Morton Announces Candidacy for Ward 3 Alderman

Longtime Clinton resident, Elder Law attorney, and local business owner Ronald Morton has announced his candidacy for Ward 3 Alderman. With 40 years of experience living, working, and investing in Clinton, Morton is committed to protecting and strengthening the city’s future.

At the heart of Morton’s campaign is his Three E’s platform—Enforcement, Economic Development, and Exit. His vision focuses on ensuring safety, fostering growth, and securing Clinton’s independence from the challenges posed by Jackson and Hinds County.

A Vision for a Stronger Clinton

Clinton’s east is bordered by America’s deadliest city. Morton believes that Clinton must continue to take proactive steps to protect its citizens from neighboring Jackson’s lawlessness. “Public safety is the foundation of any thriving community. We must ensure law enforcement is well-funded, well-equipped, and supported,” Morton stated. Enhanced enforcement will be a top priority, ensuring that Clinton remains a safe and desirable place to live and work.

Economic development is another key focus of Morton’s campaign. He recognizes that attracting businesses, creating jobs, and developing amenities are essential to Clinton’s long-term success. “If we do not create economic opportunities for work and entertainment, families will not come or stay, eliminating the tax base necessary to support a safe and thriving community,” Morton explained. He believes in fostering an environment where businesses can grow and families can thrive.

However, Morton believes the biggest threat to Clinton’s future is Hinds County. For years, the county’s “leadership” and policies have held Clinton back. Recently Gerrymandered supervisor districts have intentionally robbed Clinton of any board representation. Other countywide-elected officials are an embarrassment. Morton’s solution? Exit Hinds County altogether. “Clinton should control its own future. We cannot allow the dysfunction of Hinds County to dictate the well-being of our city,” Morton declared. He advocates immediate efforts to legally and strategically separate Clinton from Hinds County, providing greater autonomy and control over local resources and governance.

Join the Movement

Ronald Morton is calling on Ward 3 residents and all of Clinton to stand with him in this important fight for the city’s future. “Clinton is a great city, but we must act now to protect it. I need your support to make this vision a reality.”
