Reminder – The Nomad’s Journey by Lucía Duque at the Arts Center of Mississippi

Spanish artist, Lucia Duque, would like to remind you about her upcoming exhibition The Nomad’s Journey based in Clinton, MS. The exhibition will take place at the Arts Center of Mississippi (201 E Pascagoula St, Jackson, MS).
In the context of the current global migration crisis, The Nomad’s Journey explores with sensitivity and depth the experiences of those forced to leave their homes in search of a better future. Through her work, Lucía captures both the darkness of conflict—bombings, violence, hunger, and insecurity—and the light of hope that fuels migration. Her paintings evoke the migration of birds, symbolizing resilience and survival.

The collection highlights various migration realities worldwide, from refugees fleeing Syria and Ukraine to displaced people in the Congo and those enduring treacherous journeys through the Darién jungle.

“As an artist, I feel called and responsible to speak about the moment we are living in history. Through my paintings, I want to contribute to the dialogue about this situation, bring visibility, and embrace those who are suffering, with the respect and dignity they deserve. An artist has the responsibility to speak about the era in which they live,” says Lucía Duque.

We invite media representatives, collectors, and art enthusiasts to attend this impactful exhibition, which seeks to foster empathy and raise awareness about one of the most pressing issues of our time.
