Public invited to join Happy Gardeners for fall meetings
The Happy Gardeners Club of Clinton is opening its fall meetings to members of the public who have an interest in gardening information and connecting with nature.
The kickoff meeting, scheduled for Monday, September 29, will feature Michelle Cheroni, a MSU Certified Master Naturalist, who will enlighten members and guests on “Raising Backyard Chickens.” Although the allure of keeping chickens is appealing, Ms. Cheroni will provide information on essential matters such as local regulations, coop design and spacing, daily needs, and predator protection.
The October meeting, set for Monday, October 27, will focus on “Mississippi Hummingbirds and Plants that They Love.” The special guest speaker will be Dr. Eddie M.L. Smith, MSU Extension Agent and Coordinator. Dr. Smith, a gardening specialist, also is the Host of Southern Gardening, which includes weekly videos, newspaper columns, guest appearances, and social media posts on gardening in Mississippi.
Happy Gardeners is set to host a dynamic year of similar engaging meetings led by expert speakers. The club meets at the Clinton Episcopal Church of the Creator, on the last Monday of most months, beginning at 10 a.m.
