Three CPSD campuses earn Lieutenant Governor’s Attendance Award

Special to The Clinton Courier

Mississippi’s Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hosemann’s office recently recognized three Clinton Public School District campuses as recipients of the Lieutenant Governor’s Attendance Award.

Clinton Park Elementary, Northside Elementary and Eastside Elementary were awarded the recognition for maintaining strong student attendance and chronic absenteeism rates below fifteen percent for the 2024-25 school year.

Clinton Public School District Superintendent Dr. Andy Schoggin said the attendance records for these campuses are not a coincidence.

“It underscores the critical link between consistent attendance and high student achievement,” he added.

During a time when chronic absenteeism has seen an increase across the state, the three CPSD campuses were recognized in a group of 130 Mississippi public schools for consistently having high attendance.

All three schools also ranked academically among the top thirteen elementary schools in Mississippi for the 2024-25 school year.

“Our teachers and administrators do a wonderful job of connecting with families to emphasize the importance of attendance and to build a strong school-home partnership that supports every student,” Schoggin said.
